WHO WE ARE

Everyone for the North Oregon Coast (EFTNOC) is an independent group of community members, homeowners, residents, and humans who love the North Oregon Coast and want Everyone to come and experience this little piece of paradise we call home.

Our mission is to strengthen relationships by working together on tough problems that can threaten to disrupt the peace that the North Oregon Coast offers for residents and visitors.

WHY STR'S ARE VALUABLE

Support the Local Economy

Tourism and travel to the NORC is vital to the economy of our region, providing tax revenues and supporting hundreds of residents who work in the services and retail sectors. Conventions and events depend on welcoming and right-sized accommodations including hotels and short term rentals (STRs) as the core options for those travelers.

Empower Local Residents

Broadly speaking, several commonsense measures and regulations can be implemented to ease tensions between local residents and the traveling public and their hosts. Short term rentals can introduce some legitimate issues. Proper regulations, management, and education might ensure residents can enjoy the place they live just as peacefully as those who are visiting.

Ensure Equal Access

Access to Nature’s wonders should be available to all visitors, regardless of economic status. Competitive and well managed short term rentals, properly regulated, support that access and provide diversity in accommodations that work the best for traveling families and furry friends.

Educate STR Managers and Owners

Improved relationships should be a biproduct of an educated and informed STR management and ownership group. Understanding the regulations and unique issues of our area and how to adequately respond is an important part of promoting collective enjoyment of this unparalleled location.

SHARE YOUR STORY!

We invite any resident, visitor, or STR owner or manager to submit a story that highlights the positive interactions between neighbors, visitors, residents, or why owning an STR is an important option for you. Let’s paint the picture of cooperation for others to follow!

Owner and Local

My husband and I are both life-long Oregonians. We love the Oregon Coast and all the recreation and relaxation that it provides. We relish spending time with our five children and four grandchildren at the beach, watching the elk, eagles, and herons and playing in the sand. We are hard-working, responsible people that have invested lots of literal blood, sweat, tears, and money into making our small home in the Sunset Beach area a delight to our family, friends, guests, and neighbors. We have always respected our responsibility to our immediate neighbors, ensuring that our rental is not causing any issues, and we strive to have the smallest tourist "footprint" possible. We screen our guests, we limit capacity beyond what is required, and we regularly visit the home and discuss how things are going with our neighbors. We support the new ordinances that Clatsop County has approved and believe that permitted STRs should be allowed to continue to operate per permit and regulations the county has established. Our rental brings tourism dollars to the county and puts dollars in the pockets of many Clatsop County residents who we leverage to help us maintain it. We are two Oregonians that love our coastal community. Our STR investment is our retirement, which we eagerly look forward to, so that we can spend more time at the beach enjoying all that it has to offer.

By Ron Bekkerman, Maxime C. Cohen, Edward Hung, John Maiden and Davide Proserpio It’s well-know that one of the downsides of short-term rentals (STRs) is that they can reduce the availability of housing for long-term residents, this driving up both rents and house prices for locals. In a previous study, we found that home-sharing through Airbnb alone is responsible for about 20% of the average annual increase in U.S. rents,...

Short Term Rentals For The Economics Of The Community

There has been a lot of discussion over the last couple of years about Short Term rentals.
